Joanne Grüne-Yanoff is an American artist who is currently living and working in Stockholm.
A unique approach to storytelling is evidenced in Joann’s diverse body of works. Taking as her point of departure everyday emotions and experiences, the artist weaves a rich tale of humanity that tugs at our inner threads. While a few of these experiences may be new to us, the majority are easily recognizable as our own.
Grüne-Yanoff employs an impressive array of different media -including sound & video installation, paper, sewing, photography, sculpture & painting- to compose her stories. With this striking chorus, she creates a singular voice that is completely her own, creating a rich dialogue that fills the exhibition space with tiny echoes of what it means to be human.
Experiencing this space can be as pleasant & poetic as it can be poignant & heartrending. And, long after the work is out of sight, its notes linger, reminding us of an experience we wish to have again.
