Ebba Bohlin

Polished Granite, 2010

This artwork is a permanent installation in Hallonbergen, Stockholm. It was comissioned by Marabouparken, in 2010.
The title "1.5 x 2.1573733…" describes the artist’s own measurements in relation to the Golden Ratio, a principal commonly used within the fields of art & architecture to determine optimal proportions. The ‘polishing’ of different materials is a recurring theme of Ebba's artistic practice. She is particularly fascinated by how treating a surface –and the transference of energy that takes during the process– can make the surface visible. Nothing is added. The stone is essentially what it has always been, except for the opening that has been created for passers-by to stop and ‘reflect’ themselves in the rock.
